RALEIGH, N.C. - Saint Augustine's University will co-host the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up I at Emery Gymnasium this weekend. Admission is free.Five matches will be played at Emery Gymnasium including three involving Saint Augustine's University. On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Lady Falcons will host Chowan University at 12 p.m. and Virginia State University at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 20, the Lady Falcons will host Elizabeth City State University at 1 p.m. The other matches are Fayetteville State University against Chowan on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Fayetteville State versus Virginia State on Sunday at 11 a.m.The Lady Falcons (3-4 overall) are led by Olivia Porter (Jr./Bakersfield, CA), Juliseea Thomas (Sr./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands), Zoey Isom (Fr./Phoenix, AZ) and Shakera Hall (Fr./Bridgetown, Barbados). Porter, a Preseason All-CIAA pick, ranks second in kills (89), third in kills per set (3.42) and fifth in hitting percentage (.252) in the CIAA. Isom leads the conference in digs (117) and ranks third in digs per set (4.50) while Thomas ranks fifth in assists per set (5.18).Hall, a recent addition to the team, has given the Lady Falcons a boost. She recorded 11 kills in a five-set victory over William Peace on Wednesday, Sept. 16.Chowan, the defending CIAA champion, is led by Suraya Chase and Cindy Ehrich. Chase ranks fourth in kills per set (2.94) and third in hitting percentage (.258), and Ehrich leads the CIAA in digs per set (4.63).Fayetteville State is led by Jessica Hardy, who ranks fourth in the CIAA in assists per set (6.05). The top player for Virginia State is Adriana Hazou, who ranks fifth in digs (71). Emmesha White leads Elizabeth City State in kills per set (2.11).Below is the schedule for the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up I at Emery Gymnasium. Shaw University is the other co-host of the event.
