First-Round Game Starts At 12 P.M. In Petersburg, Va.

RALEIGH, NC (May 2) – On Thursday, May 4, Saint Augustine's University will play Virginia State University in the first round of the CIAA Softball Championship Tournament at Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, Va. The contest begins at 12 p.m.

The Lady Falcons (15-12 overall) are seeded second in the Southern Division after posting a 7-3 divisional mark and an 11-4 conference record. The Trojans (12-21 overall) are seeded third in the Northern Division at 5-5 with a 7-9 CIAA record.

The winner will take on either Chowan University or Winston-Salem State University on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the double elimination tournament. The first-round losers will also play Thursday in the elimination bracket at 2:30 p.m.

In their only meeting of the regular season, the Lady Falcons defeated the Trojans 13-3 at the CIAA Round-Up in Charlotte, N.C. on March 19. They split against No. 4 Southern Division seed Winston-Salem State in Winston-Salem, N.C. on April 22, winning 7-2 in the second game after falling 8-3 in the first game. Against Northern Division Top Seed Chowan, the Lady Falcons fell 7-2 in the CIAA Round-Up on March 19.
