SAU Softball Falls Twice To Claflin In Doubleheader

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (April 3) – Saint Augustine's University fell to Claflin University 7-0 in the first game and 10-1 in the second game of a CIAA softball doubleheader at Adden Street Field on Wednesday.
 

The Lady Falcons played the Lady Panthers relatively close in the first game. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Lady Panthers scored five runs. They added two runs in the sixth inning.
 

Makayla August (Jr./Palm Springs, CA) batted 2-for-3 for the Lady Falcons in the first game.
 

August drove in SAU's only run in the second game. Her first-inning single scored Briana Person (So./Jarratt, VA) for a 1-0 lead. Person finished 3-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Falcons (1-9 CIAA Southern Division, 1-13 overall).
 

For the Lady Panthers (12-0 CIAA Southern Division, 26-13 overall), Chelise Morman was 2-for-3 in the first game with two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jada Ames was 2-for-3 in the second game with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
 

The Lady Falcons return home to host crosstown rival Shaw University on Saturday, April 6, at Lions Park. The first game begins at 12 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 2 p.m. Admission is free.
