SAU Softball Collects 20 Hits In Doubleheader Losses To Bluefield State

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 15) – Saint Augustine's University amassed 20 hits in two softball losses to Bluefield State College at Lions Park on Saturday.

The Lady Falcons had a season-high 14 hits in the second game, but fell 10-7. In the first game, the Lady Falcons collected six hits in a 19-0 home opening loss.

In the second game, Yasmine Thompson (Fr./Charlotte, NC) paced the Lady Falcons with three RBIs and a double on 2 of 3 hitting. Briana Person (So./Jarratt, VA) had two RBIs, two runs scored and one double on 2 of 5 hitting and Makayla August (Sr./Palm Springs, CA) scored two runs on 2 of 4 hitting. Dawayna Pratt (So./Nassau, Bahamas) scored one run on 4 of 5 hitting and Shaquelle Bain (So./Nassau, Bahamas) added one RBI and a double

The Lady Falcons exploded for four runs in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead. Person collected a two-run double and Bain had an RBI double in the inning. Bluefield State (3-1 overall) came back with five runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning to get the win.

August took the pitching loss despite striking out eight batters in seven innings.

In the first game, Pratt recorded a triple and Bain added a double for the Lady Falcons, who trailed 10-0 in the first inning.

The Lady Falcons (0-4 overall) are back on the field Tuesday, Feb. 18, in a road doubleheader against Belmont Abbey College. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Belmont, N.C.
