RALEIGH, NC (Oct. 15) –
Christopher Perkins (So./Spring Lake, NC) threw two touchdown passes for Saint Augustine's University in a 28-25 conference football victory over Johnson C. Smith at the George Williams Athletic Complex on Saturday.
The Falcons quarterback completed eight out of sixteen passes for 150 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Perkins and running back
Avonte George (R-Fr./Goldsboro, NC) also led the Falcons rushing attack with 87 yards each.
Deandre Proctor (So./Elizabeth City, NC) had four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Mekhi Hague (R-Fr./Winston-Salem, NC) gained 40 yards on one catch for a touchdown.
The Falcons offense collected 327 total yards, 150 in passing, and 177 on the ground.
Defensively, the Falcons recorded 42 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions, including a 63-yard interception returned for a touchdown by
D'Andre Tolson (Fr./Elizabeth City, NC).
Jamieson Alston (Fr./Fayetteville, NC) led the Falcons with seven tackles, and
Adam Aiken (Fr./Raleigh, NC) contributed four tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
The Falcons now improve to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the CIAA, while Johnson C. Smith falls to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in CIAA play.
Malik Evans finished with six-for-eight in pass completions for 86 yards and one touchdown for Johnson C. Smith. Tyreik Leach rushed for 34 yards on nine carries, while Reggie Bryant had four receptions for 27 yards and one touchdown.
The Falcons remain home next Saturday, Oct. 22, against Winston-Salem State. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
