SAU Softball Hosts Benedict In Home Opener Wednesday

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 15) – Saint Augustine's University makes its home softball season debut on Wednesday, March 16, in a doubleheader against Benedict College at Oakwood Park. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for the doubleheader, which is free to the public.

The Lady Falcons (0-8 overall) will look to avenge two earlier losses to the Tigers (10-13 overall) this season. Benedict won 21-1 and 15-8 at home in Columbia, S.C., on Feb. 9.

Victoria Spoon (Jr./Holland Patent, NY) leads the Lady Falcons in batting average (.318) and hits (7). Victoria De La Cruz (Jr./Whittier, CA) and Yasmine Thompson (Sr./Charlotte, NC) share the team lead in RBIs (4) and Rashonda Hart (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) paces the Lady Falcons in runs scored (4).

Deneisha Wooten is the offensive leader for the Tigers. She has 21 RBIs and a .444 batting average.
