Spoon Stands Out For SAU In Softball Losses To Benedict

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 16) – Victoria Spoon (Jr./Holland Patent, NY) sparkled for Saint Augustine's University against Benedict College in Wednesday's softball doubleheader.

Spoon smacked an RBI triple and scored a run in the second game for the Lady Falcons, who lost 15-0 and 12-2 in their home opener at Oakwood Park. She totaled 12 catches and 10 putouts combined including a sliding catch and an over-the-head grab at shortstop.

Shaquelle Bain (Sr./Nassau, Bahamas) scored the other run in the second game after reaching base on a walk. Madison Poston (So./Florence, SC) drove in Spoon on a double play for SAU, which scored both runs in the fourth inning.

The Lady Falcons (0-10 overall) host Belmont Abbey in a doubleheader at Oakwood Park on Friday, March 18. The start times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Benedict improved to 12-13 overall.
