FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (April 23) – Saint Augustine's University concluded the softball season with a pair of losses to Fayetteville State at Lamon Street Park on Saturday. The scores were 11-1 in the first game and 13-5 in the second game of the CIAA doubleheader.

The Lady Falcons finished the season 3-7 in the Southern Division, 3-13 in the CIAA and 3-23 overall. The Broncos improved to 5-3 in the Southern Division, 10-4 in the CIAA and 15-15 overall.

Victoria De La Cruz (So./Whittier, CA) drove in the only run for the Lady Falcons in the first game. Her double play groundout scored Shaquelle Bain (Sr./Nassau, Bahamas) in the third inning.

The Lady Falcons had four hits and the Broncos totaled 14 hits in the first game. Victoria Spoon (So./Holland Patent, NY), Madison Poston (So./Florence, SC), Latavia Braynen (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) and Deanta' Colebrooke (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) were 1-for-2 for the Lady Falcons. M'Smrya Seward was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, one run scored and a home run for the Broncos.

In the second game, SAU scored all its runs in the fourth inning. Bain was walked with the bases loaded and Rashonda Hart (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) knocked in a run. Cruz hit an RBI single and Hart scored on an error on the same play.

The Lady Falcons tallied 10 hits and the Broncos accumulated 13 hits in the second game. Cruz was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Yasmine Thompson (Sr./Charlotte, NC) was 2-for-3 with one run scored.

For the Broncos, Kyra Mitchell was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, one run scored, two doubles and a home run.
