DURHAM, NC -- The Saint Augustine's University Men and Women took to the track for the CIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Durham County Stadium. The Women's team finished 3rd and the Men's team finished 4th in the overall standings despite some strong performances from the team. The CIAA recognized
Malaysia Johnson (Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dillard HS) as the Women's Championship MVP for Running Events at the conclusion of the meet. Johnson contributed 21 points from first place in the 400m and second place in the 200m and a leg on the 4x100 relay for the Falcons.

Other top performances and highlights for the Falcons included:
Kahlil West (Roanoke, VA, William Fleming HS) was runner up in the high jump and long jump and placed 3rd in the pole vault
Darius Turner (Burlington, NC, Walter M. Williams HS) placed 4th in the 100m and 6th in the 200m
Isaiah Chapman (Raleigh, NC, Southeast Raleigh HS) finished 5th in the 400 hurdles
Lanyjah Gunter (Wendell, NC, Knightdale HS) finished as runner up in the long jump and 4th in the triple jump
Sean Kalawan (Westmoreland, Jamaica, G.C. Foster) was 4th in the 110m hurdles and runner up in the 400m hurdles
Sheree Wright (Manchester, JAM, Manchester HS) finished 4th in the high jump
Kyrasani Mitchell (San Diego, CA, San Diego HS) finished 6th in the shot put and discus
Asheika Smith (St. Elizabeth, JAM, Universal School)was 4th in the 400m and 8th in the 200m
Taymar Smith (Greenville, SC, Greer Middle College) finished 6th in the 1500m and 7th in the 3000m
Christabelle Obi (Ypsilanti, MI, Ann Arbor Huron HS) finished 4th in the 100m hurdles and 3rd in the 400m hurdles
The men placed 3rd in the 4x100 relay and women took 2nd the 4x100 relay. The men and the women both placed 5th in the 4x400 relay.
