  • Title
    Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs
Anthony Barbour is in his second season as offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Saint Augustine's University.

In 2021, Barbour molded an offense full of mostly first- and second-year players and turned it into a cohesive unit. Offensive standouts featured freshman quarterback Christopher Perkins and freshman wide receiver Deandre Proctor.

Perkins rushed for two touchdowns and threw for a score in five games. Proctor led the Falcons in rushing and averaged a team-high 17.4 yards per catch on the way to All-CIAA Rookie Team honors as a two-position player (he also played quarterback in three games).

Barbour was a successful high school football coach before joining SAU. He was head coach four four seasons at Durham Jordan, where he led the team to two conference championships and three straight state playoff berths. When Barbour arrived in 2015, Jordan hadn't posted a winning since 2010.

Barbour was also head coach at Smithfield-Selma, Middle Creek and Southern Durham high schools and was an assistant coach at Clayton High School. All three teams where he was head coach made it to the state playoffs.

A local legend as a football player, Barbour rushed for 5,806 yards and led Garner High School to the state 4-A championship in 1987. As a collegian, he played at N.C. State University, where he is sixth on the school's career rushing list.
