MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Saint Augustine's College beat Chowan University 6-3 in CIAA men's tennis Saturday to improve to 5-4 overall for the season. All nine matches have been against CIAA opponents. Chowan fell to 0-9.
Marcel Harley of the Falcons defeated Jordan Owens by forfeit in No. 1 singles, and Demetrius White beat Levonte Perkinson 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles. Coyatito Smith of the Falcons won 6-0, 6-0 over George Ziedan in No. 4 singles and Miles Roe beat John Timberlake 6-3, 6-2 in No. 5 singles.
Harley and White teamed up to beat Perkinson and Bjorn Blythe 8-1 in No. 1 doubles. Levi Thompson and Smith of the Falcons topped Owens and Charles Fisher 9-8 (2) in No. 2 doubles.
In women's action, Chowan defeated the Lady Falcons 9-0. The Lady Falcons travel to Livingstone College March 31 at 1 p.m. The Saint Augustine's College men's and women's teams meet Chowan again April 10 at Lions Park in Raleigh, N.C., starting at 1 p.m.
