Falcons Smack 25 Hits To Sweep Lincoln (Pa.)

RALEIGH, N.C. -  Saint Augustine's College combined for 25 hits to win 9-0 and 19-3 over Lincoln (Pa.) Sunday in a CIAA baseball doubleheader at Buffaloe Road Park.

The Falcons, who are the defending CIAA champions, held the Lions to eight hits combined to remain unbeaten in the CIAA at 8-0 while improving to 11-7 overall. Lincoln (Pa.) stayed winless at 0-6 overall and 0-6 in the CIAA.

Senior shortstop Rashad Ingram (Savannah, Ga.) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, five runs scored, and six stolen bases including four in the first game. Ingram has 26 stolen bases on the season. Senior Mike Wallace (Powhatan, Va.) was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, four runs scored, a home run, a double and two sacrifice flies. 

Sophomore Ariel Polanco (Harlem, N.Y.) led the Falcons with three RBIs and sophomore Chris Rogers (Chicago, Ill.) added two RBIs in the first game for the Falcons, who had seven hits. Wallace had three RBIs while Ingram and sophomore Jeremy Wilkins (Smithfield, N.C.) each had two RBIs in the second game for the Falcons, who cranked out 18 hits.

Senior pitcher Chris Vette (Hampton, Va.) hurled a four-hit shutout including seven strikeouts to keep the Lions at bay in the first game. Sophomore Stephen Hamilton (Chicago, III) and freshman Alex Edwards (Chicago, Ill) combined on a four-hitter in the second game with Hamilton getting the win.

The Falcons host crosstown rival Shaw on Wednesday in a CIAA doubleheader at Lions Park. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
