Falcons Take Two From Paine

AUGUSTA, Ga.  - Senior shortstop Rashad Ingram (Savannah, Ga.) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases to lead Saint Augustine's College past Paine College 5-1 Tuesday in the first game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader.

Senior second baseman Chris Vette (Hampton, Va.) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and three stolen bases for a 10-2 win in the second game. The Falcons (19-11 overall) have won four in a row.

In the first game, sophomore David Nelson (Richton Park, Ill.) held Paine to one run on seven hits to improve to 3-0 on the season. Ingram had three of the Falcons' 10 hits and senior center fielder Joe Pierce (Wetumpka, Ala.) added two hits. Pierce drove in two runs and scored once for the Falcons. Junior left fielder Wayne Lewis (Charlotte, N.C.) had two stolen bases. 

In the second game, Ingram and Pierce both hit two RBIs for the Falcons, who scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Freshman Alex Edwards (Chicago, Ill.) pitched six strong innings for his first win this season, allowing one hit and five strikeouts. Sophomore Chris Rogers (Chicago, Ill.) pitched the last inning in relief, finishing off Paine with a groundout and two strikeouts.

The Falcons return to the field Wednesday in Orangeburg, S.C., against Claflin. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
