PETERSBURG, Va. - Saint Augustine's College handled Lincoln (Pa.) University in men's and women's tennis during CIAA Cross Divisional Round-Up I on March 12-13 at Virginia State University. The Falcons won by identical 5-4 scores, and the Lady Falcons were victorious 8-1.
In the first men's match,
Demetrios White (Raleigh, N.C.) of the Falcons beat Michael Sangster 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 in No. 2 singles,
Marlin Felder (Charlotte, N.C.) beat Stephen Sangster 6-4, 6-0 in No. 3 singles and
Brandon Burch won by forfeit in No. 6 singles. In doubles, the team of White and
Michael Tres' Moore (Media, Pa.) beat Mark Chikwem and Stephen Sangster 8-5 in No. 2 doubles and
Mallory Felder (Charlotte, N.C.) and Burch won by forfeit in No. 3 doubles.
In the second men's match, Harley beat Osho 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 singles, White beat Michael Sangster 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 in No. 2 singles,
Marlin Felder defeated Stephen Sangster 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 singles and Burch won by forfeit in No. 6 singles. In doubles,
Mallory Felder and Burch won by forfeit in No. 3 doubles.
In the women's match,
Minyan Murphy (San Bernardino, Calif.) of the Lady Falcons defeated Stephanie Henry 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles,
Kenishea Donaldson (Trenton, N.J.) beat Leslie Ried-Bey 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2 singles,
Bianca Vaughn (Chester, Va.) beat Mellyssa Diggs 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles,
Roxanne Smith (St. Catherine, Jamaica) topped Sherlina Holland 6-4, 6-1 in No. 5 singles and
Kyra Mobley beat Sharia Davis 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 in No. 6 singles.
The Lady Falcons duo of Donaldson and Murphy beat Henry-Ried-Bey 8-1 in No. 1 doubles. Vaughn and
Fantashia Howard beat Rogers-Diggs 8-4 in No. 2 doubles and Mobley-Smith downed Holland-Davis 8-6 in No. 3 doubles.
The Falcons and Lady Falcons will host CIAA Cross Divisional Round-Up II on March 26-27 at Lions Park in Raleigh, N.C.
