Baseball Team Hosts WSSU Tuesday On Senior Day

Saint Augustine's College will host Winston-Salem State University in a CIAA baseball doubleheader Tuesday on Senior Day for the Falcons. Admission is free for both contests, which will be played at USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. The first game has a 2 p.m. start.

The ceremony will take place between the first and second games of the doubleheader. Nine seniors will be honored including catcher Josh Bishop (Richmond, Va.), first baseman Brian Clark (Chicago, Ill.), shortstop Rashad Ingram (Savannah, Ga.), center fielder Joe Pierce (Wetumpka, Ala.), pitcher Brandon Stewart (Riverdale, Ga.), third baseman/pitcher Chris Vette (Hampton, Va.), Terence Townsend (Dillon, S.C.), right fielder Mike Wallace (Powhatan, Va.) and second baseman Kevin White (Dunn, N.C.).

The group of Bishop, Ingram, Pierce, Stewart, Vette, Townsend and White is part of a four-year run which includes four 20-win seasons, one 30-win season, three league regular-season titles, three trips to the CIAA championship game and one CIAA tournament title. Their record over a four-year span is 111-68 overall for a 62 percent winning percentage entering the WSSU twinbill. Clark played on last season's CIAA tournament title team, and Wallace joined the Falcons this season.

A sweep of WSSU would give the Falcons 30 wins for the second straight season. The defending CIAA champs, the Falcons are 28-13 overall including a league-leading 18-2 mark.

Both teams are contending for the CIAA regular-season crown. The Rams are 21-11 overall and second in the CIAA standings at 14-2. In the first meeting, the Falcons edged the Rams 3-2 in the first game and 5-2 in the second game in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Feb. 15.
