CARY, N.C. - Senior shortstop Rashad Ingram (Savannah, Ga.) of Saint Augustine's College stood out in baseball doubleheader losses to Davis & Elkins College Monday at USA Baseball Complex. The Falcons (15-9 overall) lost 7-1 in the first game and 10-5 in the second game.
Ingram had a total of three hits, one run scored, one RBI and one stolen base combined in two games. He scored the Falcons' only run in the first game on a fifth-inning RBI groundout by senior centerfielder Joseph Pierce (Wetumpka, Ala.). Ingram reached base on a left-field double before stealing third base.
Ingram had two of the Falcons' six hits in the first game. The Senators (7-3) scored all their runs on seven hits.
In the second game, Ingram was one of three Falcons who each drove in a run. The others were first baseman David Nelson (Richton Park, Ill.) and sophomore designated hitter Jeremy Wilkins (Smithfield, N.C.)
The Falcons scored two runs in the sixth inning to come within 5-4, but the Senators erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the win. The Falcons added a run in the bottom of the seventh. The Senators had 10 hits and the Falcons had five.
The Falcons return to CIAA play Tuesday against Chowan at USA Baseball Complex. The first game of the doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest. The defending CIAA champions, the Falcons are undefeated (12-0) in the conference.
