Falcons Fall Twice To Francis Marion In Baseball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FLORENCE, S.C. – Jamie Scott (Jr./Hampton, Va.) was 4-for-6 at the plate for Saint Augustine's University, which lost 9-2 and 6-1 to Francis Marion University in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

In the first game, the Falcons trailed 3-2 after scoring one run each in the third and fourth innings. Jamie Scott (Jr./Hampton, Va.) scored on a sacrifice bunt by Calvin Butcher (Jr./New Castle, Del.) in the third inning and Pat Hall (Sr./Virginia Beach, Va.) scored on a sacrifice bunt by Sterling James (So./New Castle, Del.) in the fourth inning. But the Patriots scored six runs in the fifth inning to win by seven runs. Jason Baytop (Fr./Manchester, Md.) and Scott (Jr./Hampton, Va.) each went 2-for-3 for the Falcons.

In the second game, the Falcons fell behind 6-0 in the first two innings. They scored their only run in the fourth when Baytop hit an RBI single to score Bobby Delly (Fr./Lancaster, S.C.). For the game, Scott was 2-for-3 to lead the Falcons in batting.

The Falcons are now 22-15 overall while the Patriots are 17-13. The Falcons host Winston-Salem State University in a key CIAA matchup on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Game time is 4 p.m. at Buffaloe Road Park in Raleigh, N.C.

The Falcons (9-2) are one game behind the Rams (10-1) in the Southern Division standings. This is the third meeting between the schools this season.
