Ariel Polanco (Sr./Harlem, N.Y.) hit a two-run home run for Saint Augustine's University, but the Falcons lost 15-4 to Winston-Salem State University in a CIAA baseball game at USA Baseball Complex on Monday, April 8, 2013. The contest was played on Monday after being postponed twice due to inclement weather.
The Falcons (25-16 overall) are two games behind the Rams (31-8 overall) in the CIAA Southern Division standings in the final week of the regular season. The Falcons are 12-3 in the division and the Rams are 14-1.
Polanco knocked in two of the Falcons' four runs. His homer to left field in the eighth inning scored him and
Jamie Scott (Jr./Hampton, Va.), who earlier hit an RBI single to score
Calvin Butcher (Jr./New Castle, Del.) in the same inning.
Pat Hall (Sr./Virginia Beach, Va.) drove in the other run on an RBI single which scored Scott in the first inning. It tied the game at 1-1, but the Rams scored 14 consecutive runs including eight in the seventh inning. The Rams outhit the Falcons 14-5 and the Falcons committed five errors in the game.
This was the first of six consecutive home contests for the Falcons, who host Coker College in a single game at USA Baseball Complex on Tuesday, April 9. Game time is 6 p.m.
