Baytop Bats 3-of-6 For Falcons In Baseball Losses To Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Jason Baytop (Jr./Manchester, MD) was 3-of-6 from the plate for Saint Augustine's University in non-conference doubleheader losses to Pfeiffer University at Joe Ferebee Field on Saturday, February 14, 2015. The Falcons lost 3-1 in the first game and 6-3 in the second game.

The Falcons dropped to 1-6 overall. Pfeiffer is 5-5 overall.

Baytop was 2-of-3 with a triple and one run scored in the first game. The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Timothy Carter (So./Lumberton, NC) singled in Baytop. The lead held until the fourth inning when Pfeiffer scored three runs for a 3-1 lead, which turned out to be the final score.

Roberto Rivera (Fr./Millville, NJ) was 1-of-3 with a double and Carey Cheek was 1-of-3 for the Falcons, who had five hits. Pfeiffer had eight hits.

Baytop was 1-of-3 with one run scored in the second game. Tyson McDonald (Jr./Magee, MS) was 1-of-3 with a double and two RBIs, and William Thomas (Jr./Yorktown, VA) was 1-of-2 with one run scored. Carter scored a run and Cheek recorded an RBI for the Falcons, who had three hits.

The Falcons took a 3-0 lead in the top of first inning. Cheek scored Baytop on an RBI groundout and McDonald scored Carter and Thomas on a double down the right field line. Pfeiffer tied the score 3-3 in the bottom of the first inning and took a 4-3 lead with one run in the third inning. Pfeiffer, which had three hits, finished the scoring with two runs in the sixth inning.

Both teams will play another doubleheader Sunday, February 15 at Joe Ferebee Field. The first game begins at noon followed by the second game at approximately 2 p.m.
