Falcons Fall To Nationally-Ranked Mount Olive In Baseball Opener

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Centerfielder Jason Baytop (Jr./Manchester, MD) collected two hits and drove in a run for Saint Augustine's University in an 11-3 baseball loss to nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive at Scarborough Field on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

The Falcons fell to 0-1 in their season opener. The Trojans, ranked 13^th in the Collegiate Baseball Division II rankings, improved to 2-1 overall.

Baytop led the Falcons in hits while shortstop Roberto Rivera (Fr./Millville, NJ), first baseman William Thomas (Jr./Yorktown, VA), third baseman Carey Cheek (Jr./Baltimore, MD), rightfielder Sterling James (Sr./New Castle, DE) and leftfielder Darrell Langston (Fr./Chicago, IL) each added a hit for the Falcons, who totaled seven hits.

The Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead against the Trojans. Baytop scored Langston on a single to right center field, and designated hitter Timothy Carter (So./Lumberton, NC) scored Rivera on an RBI sacrifice fly in the third inning. Cheek scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

The Trojans scored six runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-3 lead. They added a run in the seventh inning.

The Trojans were led offensively by Jason Morozowski. He knocked in four runs with a grand slam homer for the Trojans, who finished with 11 hits.
