CARY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University will step outside the CIAA to play nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive in a single nine-inning baseball game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. The contest begins at 6 p.m.Both teams met in the Falcons' season opener on February 3 in Mount Olive, N.C. The Trojans, ranked 13th nationally at the time, won 11-3. The Trojans (24-9 overall) are currently ranked 20th in the Collegiate Baseball rankings.
The Falcons (11-15 overall) are coming off a doubleheader split against Chowan University on Sunday, March 29, in Raleigh, N.C. They won the second game 4-2 behind the pitching of Jeremy Sandifer (Sr./Virginia Beach, VA), who leads the CIAA in strikeouts (50).
Centerfielder Jason Baytop (Jr./Manchester, MD) is the Falcons' top hitter. He ranks fourth in the CIAA in batting average (.393) and second in stolen bases (14). Desmond Cheek (So./Franklinville, NC) ranks third in the CIAA in earned run average (2.36), and Bryan Rivera (Sr./Cidra, Puerto Rico) is third in the CIAA in strikeouts (42).
The Trojans are powered by Jason Morozowski and Zak Orrison. Morozowski leads the Trojans in batting average (.424) and Orrison is second on the team in batting average (.421).
