CARY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University added Bluefield State College to the baseball schedule for a four-game weekend series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex beginning Saturday, March 7, 2015. Admission is free.
The first game of Saturday's doubleheader begins at 12:30 p.m. with the second game starting at approximately 2:30 p.m. The teams resume play on Sunday, March 8 with the first game set for 12 p.m. and the second game scheduled for approximately 2 p.m.
The Falcons are 2-10 overall. Bluefield State enters this weekend with a 3-3 overall mark.
The Falcons are paced by outfielder Jason Baytop (Jr./Manchester, MD) and pitchers Bryan Rivera (Sr./Cidra, Puerto Rico) and Jeremy Sandifer (Sr./Virginia Beach, VA). Baytop, a preseason All-CIAA selection, ranks first in the CIAA in hits (21) and second in batting average (.457). Rivera, a preseason All-CIAA pick, is first (31) and Sandifer is third (21) in strikeouts in the CIAA. Both pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts apiece in a doubleheader against Davis & Elkins College on Tuesday, March 3.
