CARY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University will host Coker College in a non-conference baseball game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Monday, April 6, 2015. The nine-inning contest begins at 5 p.m.
The Falcons own a two-game win streak after sweeping Chowan University 11-2 and 7-6 in Cary, N.C., on Friday, April 3. The victories moved the Falcons into sole possession of second place in the CIAA at 3-1. Winston-Salem State University is the conference leader at 7-1 and Chowan is third at 5-7.
Monday's game will be the second meeting between the Falcons and the Cobras this season. The Cobras edged the Falcons 2-1 in Hartsville, S.C., on February 9.
The Falcons (13-16 overall) are led by a stout pitching staff. Four pitchers boast an earned run average (ERA) of 3.00 or lower. Jeremy Sandifer (Sr./Virginia Beach, VA) leads the CIAA with 52 strikeouts and is tied for the conference lead with three saves. Bryan Rivera (Sr./Cidra, Puerto Rico) ranks third in the conference with 48 strikeouts. Desmond Cheek (So./Franklinville, NC) ranks fifth in the CIAA with a 2.66 ERA and is tied with Rivera for the team lead with four pitching wins. The Cobras (13-22 overall) bat .301 as a team. Sammy Song leads the Cobras with a .367 batting average.
