RALEIGH, N.C. – The Saint Augustine's University baseball team returns to action Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, when the Falcons host West Liberty University in a non-conference doubleheader at Lions Park. The first game begins at 1 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 3 p.m. There is no charge for the contests.
The teams will meet again on Sunday, Feb. 21, for another doubleheader at Lions Park. The starting times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Falcons last played Feb. 10 against Coker College in a nine-inning game in Hartsville, S.C. Their last home appearance was a doubleheader against Benedict College on Feb. 8. Last weekend's series against Pfeiffer University was postponed due to inclement weather.
Infielder Carey Cheek (Sr./Baltimore, MD) spearheads the Falcons' offensive attack. Cheek, named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week, leads the conference in batting average (.571), hits (8) and on base percentage (.563). Outfielder Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) bats .429 and infielder Alexis Garcia (Jr./ Maracaibo, Venezuela) bats .400 for the Falcons (0-5 overall).
West Liberty opens its season on Saturday. Pitcher Mark Smyth is one of the top players for the Hilltoppers.
