RALEIGH, N.C. - The four-game baseball series between Saint Augustine's University and the University of Virginia-Wise has been moved one day to Sunday, Feb. 28, and Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Lions Park due to wet field conditions. The times are 12:30 p.m. for the first game and approximately 2:30 p.m. for the second game both days. There is no charge to attend the games.
The Falcons (1-9 overall) are led by CIAA Pitcher of the Week Marquis Johnson (So./Richmond, VA) and outfielder Carey Cheek (Sr./Baltimore, MD). Johnson leads the CIAA in earned run average (1.93) and Cheek has the league's highest batting average (.433). Cheek is also tied for the CIAA stolen base lead (3) with teammates Johnathan Sierra and Charles Lyons (Fr./Rockingham, NC).
The Cavaliers (3-3 overall) are sparked by Ben Coffman, who leads the team with a .458 batting average. Matt Wright is the team's second-leading batter with a .417 average.
After the series against UVa.-Wise, the Falcons will host Pfeiffer University in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 1, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The starting times are 1 p.m. for the first game and approximately 3 p.m. for the second game.
