Box Score 2 CARY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University played Pfeiffer University close in the first game of a baseball doubleheader, losing 4-1 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. The Falcons were defeated 12-0 in the second game.
FIRST GAME
The Falcons fell behind early both games. They trailed 4-0 in the first inning of the first contest before William Thomas (Sr./Yorktown, VA) put the Falcons on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI groundout which scored Cameron Lopez.
The Falcons placed runners on first and second base with two outs in the seventh, but Pfeiffer recorded a strikeout for the victory.
The Falcons collected three hits and Pfeiffer had five hits. Corey Brassington (Jr./Raleigh, NC) pitched a solid game despite getting the loss on the mound. He scattered five hits and recorded no earned runs in seven complete innings.
SECOND GAME
The Falcons were down 6-0 before their turn at bat in the bottom of the first. Pfeiffer added three runs in the third and three runs in the seventh for the final score.
Thomas totaled most of the Falcons' five hits, going 2-for-2 from the plate. Pfeiffer (6-10 overall) tallied 11 hits with Anthony Allende batting 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
The Falcons (1-15 overall) will take a two-day break before visiting Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C., on Friday, March 4. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
