CARY, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University will host Pfeiffer University in a nine-inning game at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Tuesday, March 14, 2016, at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Both teams were originally set to play a doubleheader in the afternoon, but the schedule changed due to mid-term exams.
The Falcons are led offensively by Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) and Carey Cheek (Sr./Baltimore, MD). Langston leads the team in batting average (.328) and Cheek is second (.321) on the squad. Langston ranks fourth in the CIAA in the category.
Cheek is tied for second (9) in steals and Tyquan Bryant (Fr./Henderson, NC) is tied for fourth (7) in the CIAA. The Falcons (5-19 overall) sit atop the CIAA standings with a 3-1 conference mark.
Three Falcons rank among the top five pitchers in the CIAA in earned run average. Corey Brassington (Jr./Raleigh, NC) is second (2.48), Tim Carter (Jr./Lumberton, NC) is third (3.14) and Sean Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) is fourth (3.60). Carter is third (29) in strikeouts and Marquis Johnson (So./Richmond, VA) is fifth (24) in the conference.
Anthony Allende leads Pfeiffer (7-17 overall) in batting average (.370). He also has a 2.87 earned run average as a pitcher.
