CARY, N.C. – Johnathan Sierra (So./Raleigh, NC) recorded one RBI and William Thomas (Sr./Yorktown, VA) was 2-for-4 at the plate for Saint Augustine's University in a 9-1 non-conference baseball loss to Pfeiffer University at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016.

Sierra's groundout in the fifth inning scored Tim Carter (Jr./Lumberton, NC) to cut Pfeiffer's lead to 2-1. Pfeiffer scored three runs in the seventh inning and four runs in the ninth inning for the final score.

Alexis Garcia (Jr./Maracaibo, Venezuela) and Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) of the Falcons each collected a hit. The Falcons managed four hits in the game.

Hector Pichardo (Fr./Dominican Republic) took the loss despite a solid performance on the mound. He scattered six hits and allowed one earned run in 8 and 1/3 innings. The Falcons committed seven errors in the defeat.

Tanner Matthis was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored for Pfeiffer (8-17 overall). Xavier Rodriguez, who pitched the first four innings, gained the win.

The Falcons (5-20 overall) will host Bluefield State College in a non-conference doubleheader at Lions Park in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday, March 19. Game times are 12 p.m. and approximately 2 p.m.
