RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University will host Bluefield State College in a four-game weekend baseball series beginning Friday, March 18, 2016, at Lions Park. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday's (March 19) twinbill will start at 12 p.m. Admission is free both days.
The Falcons (5-20 overall) are led on offense by Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) and Carey Cheek (Sr./Baltimore, MD). Langston leads the Falcons and is tied for third in the CIAA with a .324 batting average. Cheek is second on the team with a .305 batting average. Cheek is tied for second in the CIAA with nine steals and Tyquan Bryant (Fr./Henderson, NC) is tied for fourth with seven steals.
Four Falcons are ranked among the CIAA's top five in earned run average. Corey Brassington (Jr./Raleigh, NC) is second with a 2.48 earned run average and Tim Carter (Jr./Lumberton, NC) is third with a 3.14 ERA. Sean Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) is fourth with a 3.60 ERA and Marquis Johnson (So./Richmond, VA) is fifth with a 4.91 ERA. Carter ranks third in the CIAA with 29 strikeouts and Johnson is fifth with 24 strikeouts.
Tyler Frazier is the top hitter for Bluefield State (4-14 overall) with a .400 batting average. Peyton Durham bats .375.
