BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Saint Augustine's University will visit Bluefield State College in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Game times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
This is the third doubleheader between both teams this season. The Falcons swept Bluefield State 4-1 and 7-3 on March 18 and lost 10-5 and 4-0 on March 19 in Raleigh, N.C.
Johnathan Sierra (So./Raleigh, NC) leads the Falcons with a .311 batting average. Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) bats .310, Carey Cheek (Sr./Baltimore, MD) bats .308 and Ricky Martin (Sr./Raleigh, NC) bats .300 for the Falcons (7-22 overall).
Langston is also a stalwart in the outfield. He was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, March 23.
Cheek and Tyquan Bryant (Fr./Henderson, NC) are tied for second in the CIAA in stolen bases (9). Sean Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) ranks second in the conference in earned run average (3.16) and Corey Brassington (Jr./Raleigh, NC) ranks third (3.25). Marquis Johnson (So./Richmond, VA) is fourth (3.96) in earned run average and tied with Tim Carter (Jr./Lumberton, NC) for fourth in strikeouts (29).
Corey Brassington is also a threat on offense. He was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week on March 23.
Bluefield State (6-18 overall) is led offensively by Peyton Durham, who bats .429. Victor Cartwright is the team leader in earned run average (3.38).
