Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University lost 8-3 in the first game and 11-0 in the second game to Claflin University in a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Lions Park on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
In the first contest, Ricky Martin (Sr./Raleigh, NC) was 2-for-2 from the plate and scored two runs for the Falcons. Johnathan Sierra (So./Raleigh, NC) and Tyquan Bryant (Fr./Henderson, NC) both drove in a run.
The Falcons tied the score 1-1 in the first inning when Cameron Lopez (Fr./Vineland, NJ) scored on a passed ball. They took a 2-1 lead in the second inning when Martin scored on Sierra's sacrifice bunt.
Claflin moved ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth, but the Falcons tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the inning when Bryant scored Martin on a single. Claflin (7-15 overall) scored five runs in the fifth to pick up the win.
In the second game, the Falcons never recovered after falling behind 5-0 in the second inning. Darrell Langston (So./Chicago, IL) was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Falcons (1-18 overall).
The Falcons return to action against neighborhood rival William Peace University at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., on Wednesday, March 9. The first pitch is 3 p.m.
