Michael Keels And Johnathan Sierra Each Tally Three RBIs For The Falcons

WILSON, NC (Feb 1) – On Wednesday, Michael Keels (R-Sr./Manning, SC) and Johnathan Sierra (So./Raleigh, NC) each recorded three RBIs as Saint Augustine's University opened the baseball season with 9-3 and 6-3 losses to Barton College at Nixon Field.

Keels knocked in two runs on 2-for-3 hitting against the Bulldogs in the first game. His single to right centerfield scored Tyquan Bryant (So./Henderson, NC) and Carson Davis (So./Oakboro, NC) in the top of the third inning. Sierra added an RBI groundout which scored Corey Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) in the inning as the Falcons led 3-1.

The Bulldogs (2-0 overall) responded with five runs in the bottom half of the third for a 6-3 lead. They added one in the fourth and two in the fifth for the final margin.

Sierra smacked a two-run double to right centerfield in the second game. His hit scored Bryant and Davis to get the Falcons within 5-3 in the top of the third inning. Hector Pichardo (So./Dominican Republic), who entered the game as a pitcher in the bottom second, allowed only one run the rest of the contest for the Falcons. The Falcons led 1-0 in the top of the first inning when an RBI groundout by Keels scored Kilvio Garcia (So./Bronx, NY).

The Falcons will host the University of Virginia's College at Wise this weekend in Cary, N.C. Both teams will play Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
