Four-Game Series Moved Locally Due To East Coast Snowstorm
RALEIGH, NC (March 18) – The CIAA baseball series between Saint Augustine's University and Lincoln (Pa.) University has been moved locally due to field conditions caused by the East Coast snowstorm this week. A doubleheader is scheduled at Granville Central High School in Stem, N.C. on Sunday, March 19 and a twinbill is set for Lions Park in Raleigh, N.C. on Monday, March 20. The starting times are 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. both days.
The series was originally set for Lincoln University, Pa. on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19.
Several student-athletes will lead the Falcons (9-16 overall) in their conference opening series. Tim Carter (Sr./Lumberton, NC) is tied for the CIAA lead in RBIs (23) and is tied for third in home runs (4). Corey Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) leads the CIAA in runs scored (24) and is tied for second with teammate Michael Keels (Sr./Manning, SC) in stolen bases (18).
Two-time CIAA Pitcher of the Week Rickey Rice (R-Sr./Union, SC) ranks third in the conference in earned run average (4.75) and leads the CIAA in strikeouts (43). He also is tied for first in victories (3).
Marquis Johnson (Sr./Richmond, VA) ranks second in the CIAA in strikeouts (32) and is tied for fourth in victories (2) with teammate Ali Nunn (Fr./Raleigh, NC). Chris Ingram (Sr./Smithtown, NY) is the CIAA leader in saves (2).
For Lincoln, Joshua Robinson ranks fifth in the CIAA in batting average (.381). Terence Berry ranks third in the league in strikeouts (31) for the Lions (4-9 overall).
