Teams Will Meet Saturday And Sunday At The USA Baseball National Training Complex In Cary, N.C.
RALEIGH, NC (March 23) – This weekend, Saint Augustine's University will host Bluefield State College in a four-game non-conference baseball series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Both teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25 followed by another doubleheader on Sunday, March 26 with starting times at 1 p.m. and approximately 3:30 p.m. both days.
All games are free and open to the public.
The Falcons are coming off a four-game series against Lincoln (Pa.) University earlier this week, having beaten the Lions three times to move into second in the CIAA standings. Their record is 3-1 in the CIAA and 12-17 overall.
Several Falcons are among the league statistical leaders in their respective categories. Timothy Carter (Sr./Lumberton, NC) ranks second (25) in runs batted in and is tied for second (5) in home runs. Michael Keels (Sr./Manning, SC) leads the CIAA in hits (38) and stolen bases (24) and Corey Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC) is tied for second (19) in stolen bases. Brassington leads the CIAA in runs scored (29) and Keels is tied for third in runs scored (23).
Rickey Rice (R-Sr./Union, SC) leads the CIAA (53) in strikeouts, is tied for the lead (3) in wins and ranks fifth (4.50) in earned run average. Marquis Johnson (Sr./Richmond, VA) ranks third (36) in strikeouts and is tied for the lead (3) in victories. Chris Ingram (Sr./Smithtown, NY) leads the CIAA (3) in saves and Carter, Kilvio Garcia (So./Bronx, NY) and Collin Pippin (Fr./Garner, NC) are tied for second (1) in saves.
The Big Blues (6-11 overall) are led offensively by Drew D'Angelo and Peyton Durham. D'Angelo paces the team in batting average (.373) and Durham is the team leader in RBIs (15) and home runs (4). Addison Meeks is 2-0 as a pitcher with a 4.86 earned run average.
