Four-Game Series Set For This Weekend
RALEIGH, NC (April 13) – On Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, Saint Augustine's University will play its final road series of the season against Bluefield State College. The first doubleheader is at Mount Airy High School in Mount Airy, N.C. on Friday and the second doubleheader is at Hunnicutt Field in Princeton, W.Va. on Saturday. The starting times are 1 p.m. and approximately 3:30 p.m. both days.
Both teams met earlier this season in Cary, N.C. The Falcons won 4-0 and 2-1 on March 25 and Bluefield State won 10-4 and 9-5 on March 26.
The Falcons (16-25 overall) are led by leadoff hitter Michael Keels (R-Sr./Manning, SC) and second batter Corey Brassington (Sr./Raleigh, NC). Keels leads the team in batting average (.333) and ranks fourth nationally in Division II in stolen bases (27). Brassington is the nation's Division II leader in walks (43) and ranks first in the CIAA in on base percentage (.497) and third in steals (21). Timothy Carter (Sr./Lumberton, NC) bats .302 and leads the Falcons in RBIs (28) and home runs (6).
Pitcher Rickey Rice (R-Sr./Union, SC) leads the CIAA in strikeouts (78) and second in earned run average (3.43). Chris Ingram (Sr./Smithtown, NY) is the conference leader in saves (3).
Bluefield State (10-21 overall) is led in hitting by Drew D'Angelo (.327) and Peyton Durham (.266/24 RBIs/5 home runs). Pitcher Bo Williams sports a 5.28 ERA.
