Box Score Teams Complete Suspended Game From April 3
RALEIGH, NC (May 1) – On Monday, Saint Augustine's University ended the regular season with a 4-2 baseball loss to Chowan University in the completion of a suspended game at Lions Park.
The Falcons finished the regular season 5-11 in the CIAA and 18-32 overall. They are the No. 4 seed in the CIAA Championship Tournament, which will be held May 4-6 on the Virginia State University campus. Their first-round opponent is top seed Winston-Salem State University on Thursday, May 4 at 3 p.m.
Monday's contest resumed with the Falcons behind 4-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning. They had runners on second and third with no outs but the Hawks (No. 2 seed, 13-3 CIAA, 25-23 overall) retired the first three batters for the win on two groundouts and a strikeout. The Falcons scored in the inning, however, when Collin Pippin (Fr./Garner, NC) crossed the plate on an RBI groundout by Michael Keels (Sr./Manning, SC).
The contest was a completion of an April 3 game suspended by rain at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The highlight for the Falcons was Marquis Johnson (Jr./Richmond, VA) firing a no-hitter through eight innings.
