SAU Women's Basketball Trounces Clark Atlanta For Season's First Win

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 17) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) led from start to finish in thumping Clark Atlanta University 72-56 in women's basketball at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday.

The victory was the first of the season for the Lady Falcons, who connected on 7 of 12 three-point attempts for 58.3 percent. Kiana Clark (Jr./Queens, NY) was especially hot from three-point range, knocking down 5 of 6 treys for a career-high 19 points. She was one three-pointer away from tying her career high of six in one game. Overall, Clark was 7 of 9 from the floor.


Kelsee Arnold (Sr./Fayetteville, GA) contributed 15 points, including 2 of 3 three-pointers, and nine rebounds. Shankia Clark (Jr./Orlando, FL) and Angela Caraballo (Jr./Richmond, VA) each scored eight points and combined for nine rebounds, and Kamya Renwicks (Jr./Baltimore, MD) had six points, five rebounds and four steals. Tanisha Wall (Jr./Franklinton, NC) added six points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.


The Lady Falcons (1-2 overall) jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never trailed in the non-conference contest. They led 39-17 at halftime and opened a 25-point lead twice in the fourth quarter. The SAU women dominated statistically, winning the rebounding battle 53-43 and forcing 23 turnovers, which led to 20 points. The Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Panthers 13-4 in second chance points, 32-15 in points in the paint and 29-18 in bench points.

Reyana Miller finished with 22 points, four steals, four assists and four rebounds for the Lady Panthers (0-4 overall), who shot 29 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from the free throw line. Reagan Jackson added 10 points.


The Lady Falcons visit Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C., in their CIAA opener on Monday, Nov. 19. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
