RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 18) – Saint Augustine's University kept pace early but ran out of steam late in a 71-38 non-conference women's basketball loss to Norfolk State University at Echols Memorial Hall in Norfolk, Va., on Tuesday.
This was the fourth game in six days for the Lady Falcons, who held their own against the Division I Spartans in the first half. The Lady Falcons trailed 25-20 in the second period on a three-pointer by Kiana Clark (Jr./Queens, NY) and went into halftime behind 34-24. In the second half, the Spartans opened a commanding lead in the third period on their way to victory.
Angela Caraballo (Jr./Richmond, VA) finished with 14 points and three steals and Clark added 10 points for the Lady Falcons. Tanisha Wall (Jr./Franklinton, NC) produced eight points and four rebounds.
Dana Echols scored 14 points and added eight assists for the Spartans (5-6 overall), a former member of the CIAA and a current member of the MEAC. Raven Russell and Khadedra Croker both scored 13 points with Croker adding 12 rebounds and four blocks.
The contest concludes the 2018 schedule for the Lady Falcons (2-8 overall). They are back in action Jan. 4, 2019, in a non-conference away game against fellow CIAA member Virginia Union University. Game time is 6 p.m.
