SAU Baseball Falls To Claflin Twice In Doubleheader

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 11) – Amilcar Yanez (Jr./Valencia, Venezuela) recorded an RBI for Saint Augustine's University in doubleheader losses to Claflin University at Mirmow Field in Orangeburg, S.C., on Saturday, March 10. The scores were 4-2 in the first game and 11-2 in the second game.

Yanez flied out to right field for a sacrifice fly which scored Derrick Rabb, Jr. (Fr./Charlotte, NC) in the fourth inning of the second game. The run pulled the Falcons within 3-2, but Claflin (4-17 overall) scored eight runs between the fourth and sixth innings to pull away.

Nick Roets (Fr./Charlotte, NC) scored the Falcons' first run in the fourth inning. Carson Davis (Jr./Oakboro, NC) was 2-for-2 at the plate for the Falcons.

Davis led the Falcons on 2-for-3 hitting with a double in the first game. Both Jamal Keels (Jr./Manning, SC) and Hector Pichardo (Jr./Dominican Republic) scored on errors in the sixth inning to cut into Claflin's 4-0 lead.

The Falcons (8-13 overall) will host Bluefield State College in a four-game series at Buffaloe Road Athletic Park in Raleigh, N.C., this weekend. Both teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18, at 1 p.m. both days.
