RALEIGH, N.C. (March 8) – Saint Augustine's University will play four baseball games this weekend including two at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
The Falcons host The College of Saint Rose (N.Y.) and the New York Institute of Technology in the Vs. Cancer D-II Challenge at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Friday, March 9. The Saint Rose game starts at 12:30 p.m. at the stadium and the New York Tech contest begins at 4:30 p.m. on Field 2.
On Saturday, March 10, the Falcons travel to Orangeburg, S.C., to visit Claflin University in a doubleheader at Historic Mirmow Field starting at 1 p.m. Both teams were scheduled to play again Sunday, March 11, in the Vs. Cancer D-II Challenge but the game was canceled.
The Falcons (7-10 overall) are led by pitchers Marquis Johnson (Sr./Richmond, VA) and Amilcar Yanez (Jr./Valencia, Venezuela). Johnson is 3-2 overall with a 1.26 earned run average and Yanez is 2-0 with a 1.84 earned run average.
Hector Pichardo (Jr./Dominican Republic) paces the Falcons with a .367 batting average and has five RBIs and seven runs scored. Carson Davis (Jr./Oakboro, NC) is the team's RBI leader with seven followed by Cody Harris (Jr./Lumberton, NC) and Ruben Pinero (R-Sr./Bronx, NY) with six RBIs apiece.
Saint Rose enters this weekend with a 5-5 record. New York Tech is 0-0-1 and Claflin is 2-16 overall.
