SAU Baseball Falls Twice To Chowan

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 22) – Saint Augustine's University dropped two games to Chowan University in a baseball doubleheader in Murfreesboro, N.C., on Saturday, April 21. The scores were 7-0 in the first game and 5-4 in the second game at Hawkins Field.

The Falcons nearly pulled out the second game. They led 2-0 in the first inning on an RBI single by Jamal Keels (Jr./Manning, SC) and an RBI double by Avery Rosania (Jr./Catonsville, MD).

Chowan took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Falcons moved ahead 4-3 in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Brandon Bly (R-Jr./New Castle, DE) and Hector Pichardo (Jr./Dominican Republic). The Hawks (19-18-1 overall) scored two runs in the bottom fifth for the final score.

Nick Roets (Fr./Charlotte, NC) was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Falcons (12-25 overall). Pichardo was 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored, and Stephon Hines (R-Fr./Coatesville, PA) batted 1-for-2 with a double and one run scored.

In the first game, the Falcons trailed 1-0 until the fifth inning when the Hawks scored four runs. The Hawks added two runs in the sixth for the final margin.

Both teams play again Sunday in a doubleheader at Hawkins Field. The first game begins at 12:30 p.m.
