Hines Homers For SAU In First Game Of Baseball Twinbill Against UNC Pembroke

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 3) – Stephon Hines (R-Fr./Coatesville, PA) smacked a two-run home run for Saint Augustine's University in a 13-4 loss to nationally-ranked University of North Carolina-Pembroke in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at Sammy Cox Field in Pembroke, N.C., on Tuesday.

The Falcons pulled within 5-2 in the second inning on Hines' shot over the left center field wall. They scored again in the fifth inning on an RBI by Jamal Keels (Jr./Manning, SC) and in the seventh inning on a wild pitch that scored Avery Rosania (Jr./Catonsville, MD).

The trio of Cody Harris (Jr./Lumberton, NC), Brandon Bly (R-Jr./New Castle, DE) and Rosania each collected a hit and scored a run for the Falcons, who finished with five hits. Rosania had a double and Bly totaled two stolen bases.

In the second game, the Falcons led early before falling 20-4 to the Braves (24-9 overall), ranked 24^th nationally in the Collegiate Baseball rankings. The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Rosania that scored Keels and an infield throwing error that scored Kilvio Garcia (Jr./Bronx, NY). They scored again in the fourth inning on an errant throw that scored Carson Davis (Jr./Oakboro) and in the seventh inning on an RBI groundout by Nick Roets (Fr./Charlotte, NC).

Davis was 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored and Bly was 2-for-4 with one run scored and a stolen base. Harris batted 2-for-3 with a triple and Tre'Vohn Jeffery (So./Raleigh, NC) hit a double for the Falcons (11-20 overall), who had nine hits.

The Falcons will take the weekend off before visiting nationally-ranked University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., on Monday, April 9. The single nine-inning game begins at 6 p.m.
