SAU Leads CIAA With 24 D2 ADA National Academic Honorees

RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 23) – Excellence in the classroom paid off for 24 Saint Augustine's University student-athletes who earned Academic Achievement Awards this month from the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA).

The Falcons and Lady Falcons were among 10,223 recipients recognized from 165 institutions for the 2017-18 season. Saint Augustine's University led the CIAA conference with the most award winners.

"This is what Saint Augustine's University athletics is all about," SAU Athletic Director George Williams said. "Academics first, athletics second and a controlled social life third."

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, have completed at least two years (four semesters) of college work at a two-year and/or four-year institution and been an active member on a college team during the 2017-18 season.
