SAU Men's Basketball Falls To Virginia Union

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 15) – Jalen Gaddy (Jr./Raleigh, NC) tallied 20 points, including six three-pointers, for Saint Augustine's University in a 92-71 CIAA men's basketball loss to Virginia Union University at Emery Gymnasium on Monday, Jan. 14.

The six three-pointers tied a season-high by an individual for the Falcons. Gaddy knocked down six treys in a victory against Mansfield University on Nov. 11, 2018.

Against Virginia Union, the Falcons' guard was 7 of 10 from the floor, including 6 of 7 from three-point range. He also added five rebounds. Gaddy has scored 20 or more points in two straight games.

Gaddy scored 14 points in the first half, including four three-pointers. He scored the game's first bucket on a three-pointer, and his third three-pointer pulled the Falcons within 21-17 midway in the first half.

But a four-point deficit increased to 18 at halftime, and the Falcons never recovered against the defending CIAA champions.

Tyre Gathright (Sr./Wilmington, NC) added 17 points and Craig McDaniel (Sr./Holly Springs, NC) scored 10 points for the Falcons, who shot 49 percent from the floor, including 47.4 percent behind the three-point line. D.J. Harrison (Sr./Winston-Salem, NC) scored eight points and Hirk Williams (Jr./Manassas, VA) chipped in seven points.

Jordan White totaled 25 points for the Panthers (5-1 CIAA, 8-7), who shot 66 percent from the floor and 61.5 percent behind the three-point arc. Will Jenkins added 18 points as four Panthers scored in double figures.

After playing four home games in seven days, the Falcons (1-6 CIAA, 4-11 overall) take a brief break before hosting Winston-Salem State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 4 p.m.
