RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 19) – Jordyn Burton (Fr./Durham, NC) scored a career-high 16 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 71-49 CIAA women's basketball loss to Winston-Salem State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday.
Burton made 8 of 11 inside shots and added seven rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who outscored the Rams 32-26 in the paint. Kamya Renwicks (Jr./Baltimore, MD) scored eight points and Shankia Clark (Jr./Orlando, FL) chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.
Amaya Tucker finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams (2-0 Southern Division, 9-7 overall), who had five players score in double figures. Brionna Pate added 12 points and nine rebounds.
The SAU women trailed 49-39 after three quarters, but were outscored 22-10 in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Falcons (1-2 Southern Division, 2-14 overall) conclude a six-game homestand against Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
