SAU Women's Basketball Falls To Shaw

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 16) – Kiana Clark (Jr./Queens, NY) scored 16 points and Tanisha Wall (Jr./Louisburg, NC) added 10 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 67-40 CIAA women's basketball loss to crosstown rival Shaw University at jam-packed Emery Gymnasium on Saturday.

Kamya Renwicks (Jr./Baltimore, MD) pulled down nine rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who were trying to sweep the Lady Bears for the first time since the 2008-09 season. The Lady Falcons won the first meeting 85-80 in overtime at Spaulding Gymnasium on Jan. 25, 2019.

Spurred by the home crowd, the Lady Falcons jumped out to a 5-0 lead on Saturday. They eventually fell behind 20-12 after the first quarter and trailed 30-23 at halftime. The Lady Falcons were down 42-32 after the third quarter, and the Lady Bears (1-9 Southern Division, 7-19 overall) outscored the hosts 25-8 in the final stanza.

Macy Keen led the Lady Bears with 28 points and 11 rebounds. KlinTisha Martin added 15 points and RaQuel Kellow had 10 points.

The contest was designated as a Think Pink Game. The Lady Falcons wore pink uniforms to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The Lady Falcons (2-8 Southern Division, 3-20 overall) finish the regular season with two games next week including a road contest against Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
