RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 23) – Bianca Igwe (Sr./Tampa, FL) tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds in her final game at Emery Gymnasium for Saint Augustine's University in a 77-49 CIAA women's basketball loss to Fayetteville State University on Saturday.
The points were a career-high for Igwe, who recorded her first-ever double-double as a Lady Falcon. The rebounds were one off her career-high.
Igwe was recognized on Senior Day along with teammate Kelsee Arnold (Sr./Atlanta, GA) after the contest. They were among 10 men's and women's basketball and cheerleading seniors highlighted on Saturday.
Arnold, along with Kamya Renwicks (Jr./Baltimore, MD) and Shankia Clark (Jr./Orlando, FL), scored seven points for the Lady Falcons, who will be the No 6. Southern Division seed in next week's CIAA Tournament.
The Lady Falcons (2-10 Southern Division, 3-22 overall) hung tough with the Broncos in the early going. They trailed 16-13 after the first quarter and 32-22 at halftime. The Broncos (11-1 Southern Division, 19-7 overall) pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Lady Falcons 45-27.
Shantel Bennett scored 19 points and Katisha Hyman added 18 points for the Broncos, who enter the CIAA Tournament as the Southern Division top seed.
