RALEIGH, N.C. (March 30) – Saint Augustine's University fell 12-4 in the first game and 14-2 in the second game of a CIAA softball doubleheader against Johnson C. Smith University at Lions Park on Saturday.
Makayla August (Jr./Palm Springs, CA) and Haley Sessoms (Jr./Kenansville, NC) led the Lady Falcons in hitting. In Game 1, August batted 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored. Kayla Jordan (Fr./Charlotte, NC) and Tatyana Hall (Fr./Greensboro, NC) each drove in a run.
In Game 2, Sessoms batted 2-for-2 with a double and one run scored. Jordan was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
For Johnson C. Smith, Evelyn Arguelles was 6-for-8 with a double, two triples, seven RBIs and four runs scored in two games combined. In the first game, she was 4-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored.
The Lady Falcons dropped to 1-7 in the CIAA Southern Division and 1-11 overall. The Golden Bulls are 6-6 in the CIAA Southern Division and 6-10 overall.
On Sunday, March 31, the Lady Falcons are scheduled to host Livingstone College in their second doubleheader in two days. The first game is set for 12 p.m. at Lions Park.
