Crawford Of SAU Selected Google Cloud Track & Field Academic All-District

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 28) – Amanda Crawford (Brooklyn, NY) of Saint Augustine's University was named to the Google Cloud NCAA Division II Academic All-District 2 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team on Tuesday.

Crawford is one of 10 student-athletes on the District 2 squad, made up of track & field and cross country competitors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Mountain East Conference (MEC) and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Each selection is on the ballot for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in June.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) nominated and selected the Academic All-District Teams in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA for their athletic and academic achievements. To be nominated for the Academic All-District awards, a track & field/cross country student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or higher.

Crawford earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team by maintaining a 3.52 cumulative grade point average while amassing 11 All-America honors and one national championship (4x400) during her two-year career. The standout sprinter graduated in May with a computer information systems degree.

This past weekend, Crawford garnered four All-America accolades (200, 400, 4x100, 4x400) at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Kingsville, Texas. She placed fifth in the 200 dash and was part of the 4x400 relay team that finished third.

During the indoor season, Crawford tallied All-America awards in the 400 dash (third place) and 4x400 relay (fourth place). As a cross country runner, she led the Lady Falcons to a second-place finish in the women's division this season. She made the All-CIAA Team after placing fourth in the women's 5K race in Salem, Va.

Recently, Crawford was one of five SAU student-athletes named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine for excelling in academics, athletics and community service.
