SAU Men's Basketball Falls To Fayetteville State At Home

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 1) – Miguel Brown (Jr./Wilson, NC) scored 16 points and Nilous Hodge (So./Charlotte, NC) added 14 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 78-72 CIAA men's basketball loss to Fayetteville State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday.

Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) registered nine points and Karaan Clemonts (Jr./Weldon, NC) had seven points and seven rebounds for the Falcons, who connected on 7 of 13 three-pointers for 53.8 percent.

The Broncos countered with 8 of 11 three-pointers for 72.7 percent and 20 of 25 free throws for 80 percent. They shot 51 percent from the floor and the Falcons shot 48.3 percent but made 9 of 16 free throws for 56.3 percent.


The Falcons held a 32-31 halftime lead, but the Broncos (6-5 CIAA, 17-5 overall) led much of the second half. Their lead hovered around eight to 11 points before going on one final spurt, stretching the margin to 17 before a late Falcons' run cut it to single digits.


Jalen Seegars sparked the Broncos with 17 points and Denzell Hosch added 16 points. Darian Dixon and Jalen Spicer finished with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.


Coming off four home games in eight days, the Falcons (3-8 CIAA, 8-13 overall) hit the road for two away games next week beginning Monday, Feb. 3, against Virginia Union University in Richmond, Va. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
